This is a look at how a Budbo order gets from our shelf to your door, and the decisions along the way that keep it quiet.

The promise, in plain terms

• Unmarked outer packaging. No logo, no product name, nothing on the outside that says what is inside.

Everything below is how we deliver each of those.

Step one: the jar

Discretion starts before the box. Flower is the hardest thing in our lineup to keep quiet, because cured flower is aromatic by design. Terpenes, the compounds that make Sour Diesel smell like fuel and citrus and make Dirty Laundry smell like sweet gas, are volatile, which means they want to escape into the air.

Every eighth and quarter ships in an airtight, opaque jar with a sealed lid. The jar does two jobs at once: it protects the flower from light and air, so what you open is as fresh as what we packed, and it keeps the smell inside the container where it belongs. Gummies ship in a sealed package and are odor-free to begin with.

Step two: the second seal

An airtight jar in an open box is still a jar in an open box. Before anything goes into the shipping carton, it is sealed a second time in a smell-proof barrier bag. That double seal is the reason a package can sit in a hot delivery truck all afternoon and still give nothing away when it arrives.

Step three: the box

The shipping carton is a plain, unmarked box. Nothing printed on it references cannabis, hemp, flower, gummies or Budbo. The label carries your address, a return address that does not name the product, and a tracking barcode. That is all.

Inside, products are padded so the jars do not rattle, because a box that sounds like glass invites a second look.

Step four: the carrier

Orders ship with major national carriers and are tracked from the moment they leave us. You will get a shipping confirmation with a tracking number as soon as the label is created, and you can follow the package until it is on your doorstep.

Because our products are hemp-derived and compliant with the 2018 Farm Bill, they can ship legally across state lines. A handful of states have passed their own restrictions on hemp-derived THC products, and we do not ship where the law prohibits it. At the time of writing that means Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, Oregon and Rhode Island; the current list is always in the footer of the site.

Step five: the handoff

Every delivery requires an adult signature. That is how we confirm the order reaches someone 21 or older, and it is also the reason a Budbo box is never left sitting on a step for the street to look at. Plan to have an adult available, or ship to a front desk or mailroom that can sign for you.

What we ask from you

A few things on your end make the whole chain work better:

• Use an address where an adult can sign. Home when you are around, or a front desk or mailroom you trust.
• Be 21 or older. Every order is for adults only, and the carrier checks ID at the door.
• Watch the tracking. A package that says "delivered" and is not in your hands usually turns up within a day, but tell us right away if it does not.

Why we go to this length

There are two reasons, and neither is embarrassment.

The first is that discretion is respect. What you buy is your business. A brand that puts its logo on the outside of the box is advertising to your neighbors at your expense, and we would rather earn a second order than a billboard.

The second is freshness. Almost everything we do to keep an order quiet also keeps it fresh: airtight jars, opaque packaging, no exposure to light or air between our shelf and yours. Discreet by design turned out to be the same thing as quality by design.
